Vilmar (Vava) Marques brings an illustrious soccer career with national and international playing and coaching experience to WUFA. A member of the Brazilian Under-20 national team pool, Vava arrived in the United States in 1986 and quickly established himself as an All-American and Team Captain at Foothill. After playing outdoor and indoor professional soccer for several years, Vava returned to Foothill to study and ended up as Head Men's Soccer Coach, a position he has held for 13 consecutive years, earning Coast Conference Coach of the Year in 2001 and 2003. Vava was honored in 1994 when he was selected local coordinator for the Brazilian Men's National team during the 1994 World Cup held in the United States. In 1999, FIFA appointed Vava the Official Liaison for the Brazilian Women's National team during their two-month stay in the U.S. for the 1999 Women's World Cup. Also in 1999, Vava was named Assistant Coach of the U.S. Futsal Men's National Team, which won the Gold Medal at the North and Central American CONCACAF Cup in 2004, followed by a 7th place finish in the Futsal World Championship Cup held in Taipei China in 2004, behind soccer giants Spain, Brazil, Italy and Argentina. Vava welcomes everyone to join him in his classes where students will meet other students from around the world in a fun and competitive environment.
Roberto grew up playing Futsal, Beach Soccer and Soccer in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. At age 11 he managed his first 11v11 team, a U15 Beach Soccer team. He registered the team in the League, invited his friends to play, and asked his brother-in-law to coach. At 13 he joined Rio de Janeiro's Club Flamengo Futsal and later the Soccer team. He played for their U14, U17 and U21 squads. He had great coaches, including Paulo Paixão who was Brazil's Fitness Coach in 4 FIFA World Cups. Following his brother's footsteps, Roberto studied and played for the University of San Francisco Dons. He also played in the San Francisco Major League. He defended the USA in the 1988 Australia World Cup of Futsal. Played in 7 National Futsal Championships for World United FC, who were champions in all his 7 participations. Roberto holds a BA in Physical Education and Psychology. He also did Post-Graduate work in Counseling at USF. He's been a Soccer Camp Director for over 30 years at the Marin Soccer Camps. He coached at De Anza Force for 14 years and currently coaches at the Stanford Soccer Club. He's also the Camp and League Director at the World United Futsal Academy and Stanford Soccer Club.
